Privacy Policy

The short version
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name or email. Your learning progress is stored on your own device (in your browser's local storage), not on our servers. We use a few cookies to make the site work and โ only with your permission โ to measure usage and show personalised ads.
What we store on your device
- Your progress (which facts you knew, quiz scores, streaks) โ saved in your browser's local storage so you can return tomorrow.
- A session cookie โ Django's built-in cookie that remembers your current day's set while you browse.
- Your consent choice โ a small local-storage flag remembering whether you accepted or declined personalised ads and analytics.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are popular, so we can make 5ThingsToday better. Analytics only activates after you accept the consent banner. Google Analytics does not identify you personally; we see aggregate visitor numbers, not individual behaviour.
Advertising
We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies to show ads that are more relevant to you. Ads only load after you accept the consent banner. You can control how Google personalises ads at Google Ad Settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising from many networks at www.aboutads.info.
Third parties
We use Google services (Google Analytics and Google AdSense). Google's use of advertising cookies is described in Google's advertising page, and Google's overall privacy practices in the Google Privacy Policy.
Children
5ThingsToday is a general-interest site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and personalised advertising is not shown to children in line with Google's policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page. If you have any questions, email us at admin@5thingstoday.famgram.co.za.
